Founded in 2017, the Desert Workshop in Russian History has become a vibrant intellectual space for fellowship and the exchange of ideas in the desert Southwest. The workshop features intense discussion of 7-8 pre-circulated papers on Russian history over the course of a day-and-a-half, as well as food and libation. Authors include university faculty and graduate students, with attendance open to all. Participants have included scholars from Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah, with some coming from as far away as Oregon, Washington, and Texas. For more information, contact Paul Werth at firstname.lastname@example.org
The inaugural and second Desert Workshops were held at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Arizona State hosted the third Desert Workshop and the University of California, Riverside the fourth. Plans are currently underway to hold the fifth workshop at the University of Nevada, Reno, with potential hosts thereafter to include the Universities of California at Santa Barbara, Irvine, and Davis; Brigham Young University; and Sonoma State University.
